In the upcoming phase 2 of the Lok Sabha Elections 2024, 1210 candidates are set to compete across 13 States/Union Territories. These regions are gearing up for polls, with a total of 2633 nomination forms submitted for 88 Parliamentary Constituencies across 12 States/UTs.
In the second phase of the Lok Sabha Elections 2024, a total of 1206 candidates hailing from 12 States/Union Territories, along with an additional 4 candidates from the Outer Manipur Parliamentary Constituency, are gearing up to contest. Across these regions, which encompass 88 Parliamentary Constituencies, a cumulative total of 2633 nominations were submitted. The filing deadline for nominations across all 12 States/UTs was April 4, 2024. Following the scrutiny process, 1428 of these nominations were deemed valid. The window for withdrawal of candidature remained open until April 08, 2024, for all participating regions.
Among the participating regions, Kerala stands out with the highest number of nominations, with 500 contenders vying for seats across 20 Parliamentary Constituencies. Following closely behind is Karnataka, with 491 nominations spread across 14 PCs. Conversely, Tripura recorded the lowest number of nominations, with just 14 contenders stepping up for one PC. Notably, the Nanded Parliamentary Constituency in Maharashtra received the highest number of nominations within phase 2, totaling 92 candidates.
