Rythu Bima, a social security initiative by the Government of Telangana, was launched on August 14, 2018. The program’s core purpose is to offer financial assistance and protection to the families of farmers who pass away prematurely.
Under this scheme, a life insurance sum of ₹5 lakh is provided to the designated nominee of a deceased farmer, regardless of whether the death was due to natural causes or an accident. The payout is directly deposited into the nominee’s bank account swiftly after the claim is processed.
Eligibility for the scheme requires the farmer to be a Telangana resident, possess a Pattadar Passbook, and be within the age group of 18 to 59 years. The full insurance premium is covered by the state government, ensuring no cost to the farmer. The implementation of the program is a joint effort between the Telangana Department of Agriculture and the Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC).
Last Date: August 13, 2025
- New farmers who have received passbooks before June 5th, and those who have not previously enrolled in Rythu Bima, are eligible to apply.
- Only farmers who have recently received a passbook can apply for Rythu Bima.
Required Documents:
- Application Form
- Farmer’s Passbook (original or copy) or
- DS paper with MRO’s digital signature
- Farmer’s Aadhaar Card (copy)
- Nominee’s Aadhaar Card (copy)
Eligibility:
- Only farmers born between August 14, 1966, and August 14, 2007, are eligible for this Rythu Bima.
- Only farmers between 18 and 59 years of age as per their Aadhaar card can apply for the scheme.
